How to deal with hate towards Christians

How many times have you heard “Jesus Freak” or had someone ask “Why do you take this Jesus thing so seriously?” Lets be honest, We have all heard that be it aimed towards us, or other sisters and brothers of Christ. As hard as it is to hear, we live in a time where churches are being shot up, and Christians are being beheaded. The one thing we are supposed to find comfort in, is bring us to a scary place in today’s world, how do we as Christians stand?

When I hear that question, “Why do you take this Jesus thing so serious?” I look at them and think, really. I just tell them “Jesus took us pretty serious when he gave his life for us on the cross.” I take Jesus freak as a complement. I am kind of obsessed. I mean, he is the man! Any free time, I spend reading my bible, playing verse memory games, or talking with people about Jesus! But lets be real guys, it can be hard to fit in as a christian. I know I was so excited to make some momma friends when my son started Tee ball, but I stood out as an odd ball. While the other mommas where making plans to go get drinks, I was praying with my son before the game. How do we deal with that? Cause I would be lying if I said that didnt make me a little sad, being such an outcast. So that evening I dug out my bible & found the perfect scripture. John 14:27 says

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

How great is that? That is an awesome reminder not to focus on what the world has to offer us. So what if we arent the popular mom, we have the best friend we could ever ask for in Jesus Christ!

Now hopefully we are never put in this position, But what about our brother’s and sisters who are being prosecuted for standing up for their believes? From being kicked out of a restaurant for praying, to being beheaded to not backing down. I have been asked, what would you do in that situation? And thats a scary thought! So once again, I dug into my bible and this is what I found

So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me
— Hebrews 13 6

No matter the situation we are called to Accept our Lord. God gave his son, Jesus gave his life, we must stand up and proudly claim them! We must not be afraid! No matter what people do to us, that is restricted to earth. We have an everlasting life we are promised as long as we have accepted Jesus as our savior!

No one said being a Christian would be easy, but it will be worth it!
